Gapminder
As a doctor and researcher, Hans Rosling identified a new paralytic disease induced by hunger in rural Africa. Now the global health professor is looking at the bigger picture, increasing our understanding of social and economic development with the remarkable trend-revealing software he created.

categories+colour-coding
I’ve looked at the existing BBC categories and the colours used to represent them. The categories seem to be very generalized and not very specific, so there is definitely room for improvement. In terms of colours, they are OK so I’ve tried to keep them in my own key. Some had to be changed.

Daytrotter
daytrotter.com is the place to look for new, free music from the finest Indepenedent bands.
They invite artists to do live sessions everyday, and so have very interesting content. Similar to what the BBC live sessions and Peel sessions.
What sets them apart is the design. They have illustrations of the bands and it feels much more niche than the quite characterless BBC.

Peel Sessions
The Peel Sessions are the stuff of legend. They broke all the rules and engaged the listener with rough and ready mixes of some of the world’s most weird, wonderful and wired bands. There was a mythology to Peel Sessions: musicians went into the studio to record their three or four track session, only to emerge a few hours later blinking and dazed, having made a helluva racket that would go down in history as the making of the band.
The peel sessions is what I need to bring into my widgets. To revolutionise the way in which music is selected and heard. We don’t want the boring categories and classifications. We want to hear what’s really out there and possibly create our own categories. My widgets need to communicate to music fans and allow their idiosyncracies.

Made with Processing. Audio by Flashbulb (“In an Instant” from the album “Red Extensions Of Me”)This is a time-based documentation of how the Magnetic Ink prints are created. The orbital vector is quite noticeable in this video. flight404.com/blog/?p=106theflashbulb.net/
